Today I became a SPY

I really didn't think I would become one of "those" moms ever, or at least until they were 14 or 15 and started having boyfriends or girlfriends. But yet again, I was wrong. Today I found myself crouched at the end of our king size bed spying on my 6 month old daughter!
This afternoon Chubby Bunny fell asleep on my bed after a feeding session. (yes I know there are multiple things wrong with it; don't judge me!) I decided since I needed to get Grandpa's Birthday dinner ready I would leave her there since she sleeps for hours at a time in our bed and literally half an hour naps in her own. I set up the monitor in our room and I went downstairs. Well at most 35 minutes later I hear her. Since she is getting more and more mobile everyday I went up to make sure all was well. I could tell by her rubbing her face in the bed she was still sleepy, so I crouched down and spied on her for at least 5 minutes, if she had seen me there wouldn't have been a chance in hell she would go back to sleep!
Really I can justify it (spying) in the name of safety, but spying is spying and I just had to laugh at myself. It was comical.  An almost 30 year old hiding from sight of a 6 month old... Oh the low... Hee hee heeee!
The really sad part is, she didn't go back to sleep...

So after everyone (except me) had a nap, long & short, Monkey had a snack. Today because Baby Sister was eating apple sauce, he had to have some. So they had a snack together. It was cute. He even fed her. Which he is surprisingly gentle and good at!
I realize this bouncy chair situation looks dangerous too, so I won't get the mom of the year award. I'm OK with that!

Then for Grandpa's gift we did some painting. Monkey LOOOOVES painting. So i set up shop outside since it was beautiful. Monkey said it was too bright, so he asked for sunglasses. I couldn't find the real ones...

A wonderful Aunty of his showed him that real art is messy art. We can't ever get away with painting without at least 4 hand prints now. Thanks Aunty, you know who you are! I love the prints, hate the mess.

Mostly I posted this pic because it's fricken cute...
And to complain that Grandpa forgot to bring his AMAZING camera tonight, which by the way he is now calling "Sandi's Camera" because he knows who should really own it! I wish... Just look at the difference in quality between the upper pic's and this... I wish....

Side note: I will likely, if I ever find some extra time, be taking out the kids names off here. I have dreams (more like delusions! ;) of this one day being read by many and realized how much information could be used off this. So when it happens, it will be only Monkey and Chubby Bunny.

Toilet humour from a newly trained Luca

So the boy & his daddy were upstairs this morning in the bathroom, and this is what I heard.
Luca- *hilarious laughter* That tickled!!
Daddy- What tickled? *hahaha*
Luca - "My poo tickled!!*laughter*
daddy- "your poo tickled?!" *laughter*
Luca- "my splashed my bum!"
daddy- *hilarious side splitting laughter"
--
need I explain? Mannnnn did I laugh when I heard this!

Is it mean?

Since my boy learned to talk I have taught him that a bra is called an "over the shoulder boulder holder"

Now when he sees mine he says something along the lines of "shoulder bolder bolder solder"
AND.... I am 99% sure that I will make sure he is still calling them that until he hits puberty? Aren't I the worst mother in the world?
Bwahhaahahaha!!!

A productive family day.

What a wonderful Saturday we had. Alex is a Karate instructor at a Dojo he has been with since he was 7, they had their kids Saturday class outside yesterday at a park. His Sensei suggested Alex bring Luca along as it had been so long since he had seen the little monkey. Well since the plan of getting the Chubby Bunnies ears pierced went down the toilet, more on that in a bit, I decided we should join them. So after a frenzied rush to get out of the house and all the traffic we still got there 15 min late. Luca is too little to join the big kids but he watched and played his own version of the games on the sidelines with Daddy and Sensei. He learned how to do push ups.

Yes, that picture is his version of a push up! Love the way that kid thinks, too bad Sensei wouldn't allow those in class.

After all the games it was lunch, BBQ hot dogs. (not a meal I would normally choose, i would prefer anything but that, really)  Right before the dogs, he had a banana, a blue berry muffin, and then a hot dog!   I am seriously worried we are going to have to take out a second mortgage on our house when this kid hits puberty! He will eat us right out of a place to live! It was cute to see him line up with the 25 or so other kids and wait his turn. When he got back to me on the blanket he said "I got hot daaawg for myself, from my Mark" That's his new thing. People are his.
My Daddy, My baby sister, My Mark (sensei) My Jonah. Its cute. I can't help but laugh!

Annasofia and I had a great time watching and playing and she thoroughly enjoys chewing her tongue and sticking out her tongue.
It's a bummer something productive had to come out of such a nice family filled morning. We got home and went to work on the house. It was GROSS. I begged my dad to come and play with Luca so we could clean. Then after he was there I handed Annasofia to him to go put away some laundry and didn't come back downstairs for an hour! Oops. Normally my dad isn't big on holding babies. But he's getting better now that she is bigger and smiles at him. Pretty sure he is wrapped around her pinky finger now, as well as Luca's. Though when I asked if he would pay for her ear piercing he said hell no. That was more of a unnecessary torture reason though. So I really wanted those lobes full of bling, and Aunty did too, and since I am a wuss and didn't want to hurt her unnecessarily I made Aunty do some phoning and question asking. Turns out Health Canada is trying to ban the piercing gun because of the spread of Hep C, due to the inability to sterilize the entire gun. Scary eh? So needless to say those cute baby lobes will be bling-less and we will have to find some adorable hair clips that stay in minimal amounts of hair, and head bands with HUGE bows on them, until she is old enough to be pierced with a needle.
Like this! Too bad they are too small now..

Oh, and my dad took his camera back before I had the chance to take a bazillion amazing photos... ARG!

Little Buddies.

I love watching Luca play with his little buddies. He used to be painfully shy in a new situation, now he is coming out of his shell.
When he plays with other kids I see his kind heart. He never wants to start fights, he just gives up the toy willingly, instead of the usual kid tantrum that happens when one snatches something away from the other. At first I thought it was awful that he let other little ones stomp all over his fun, that he was afraid. Now I see he just wants everybody to get along. He's a lover, not a fighter. However, with his momma, he'll fight willingly.
We had an amazing Friday. Spent with an amazing friend and her boy & 6 week old girl. I can't wait to have copies of the pictures she took. Very funny Annasofia eating her chicken. Though I thought i did a great job, she is not a fan, and it got caught by the camera!

Success!!!

I made my first successful batch of meat baby food. It's going to be the most bland free range, grain fed, hormone free, chicken in the world. I know I wouldn't eat it, but "they" say not to add spices etc until you know there are no allergies. I gave up on the meat purée with Luca and just bought crap in a jar. This time I googled it, and *gasp* followed directions! Me?! Yes, I followed directions.
Nobody can say I don't want the best for my babies! ;)
~
Now off to a playdate! Ooooh, my dad left me his Canon Rebel for the weekend. My kids are going to be soooooo fed up with pictures after I am done playing photographer! Yay!!

I gots me a momma's girl

Daddy tried calming her when she woke screaming just now. I was otherwise occupied but could hear her cry. Not the usual screams of gas, or hunger. So when I was done I went to see what's up, other then her... Well I reached for her and held her and immediately she stopped. The sad little gasps for air still happened like they do when you cry really hard for a while.

Hmmm. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, since daddy stole my mommies boy quite a few months back, I am happy to have a clingy one again. Its an indescribable how it warms your heart to know only you will do. Only you can make the tears stop, only you can cuddle the best, only you can lay her down to bed juuuust right. On the other hand, the selfish in me says, how will I ever go out for a much needed escape? But when all those warming thoughts outweigh the one selfish thought. I will keep my warm and fuzzy over an escape any day. Well until that next miserable day anyway...
Today was an amazing day. My babies amaze me like nothing in this world ever will. Three short days ago my little chubby bunny discovered she could get onto her hands and knees. Now she is always trying to be on her hands and knees and is rocking back and forth and pushing herself backwards around the room. It won't be long now she will be crawling. WATCH OUT LUCA! He's in for a rude awakening, I have a feeling she will be chasing him around the house every chance she gets. I can't wait. Yet, I am sad. My babies grow soooo fast. Guess I will just have to have more one day.

To the lady at BCbiomedical.

YOU SUCK...

If your not sure where the vein in a 6 month old's arm is, perhaps you shouldn't have tried... Nuff said.

BUSTED!

So this monkey boy obviously hates going to bed, what kid doesn't. After repeated attempts at getting him to stay in his own bed last night we thought he was down for the night.  So we decide on a hot night like last night we deserve some more Oreo deliciousness. So we are sitting there enjoying some TV and us time when who comes sneaking down the stairs? BUSTED! When I say busted, I don't mean the sneaky monkey, I mean us. Momma and Dad got caught eating ice cream, his favorite treat "in tha whooole woooowld" (world). I tried to hide it, but i know he saw it. Guilty as charged...Unlucky for him I don't feel guilty enough to give him any...

Feeling a little guilty.

So this morning was a LAZY morning. Waaaay more tv was watched then I care to admit. I remember when I swore my kids would not watch tv or eat any sort of junk food until they were at least 5 years old. HA! I have since learned to never say never.

Around here we try to be healthy, well at least when the monkey (Luca) and chubby bunny (Annasofia) are awake. You should see what we shove in our faces after they are in bed! Anyhoo, so normally there is at least 2 of the major food groups eaten at every meal with dinner having at least 4. Snacks and munchies make up the rest. But today feeling as lazy as we were I decided to ask Luca what was for lunch. "PIZZA!" well sorry kid, no pizza here. "seeerio" (cereal) really? A bowl of cereal? Sure! He chose cheerios. So he was eating and I am thinking. Yup, it must be genetic, I can't count how many times I used to eat cereal for most meals of the day and even a snack. Then I started feeling guilty... This is a time in his life when he is learning eating habits for the rest of his life. So after his nap I made up for it! Humus and carrots for a snack and chicken, corn on the cob, broccoli and cauliflower for dinner. Wiped my guilty conscious clean! It is a shame though that he pretty much just uses the carrots as a spoon for the humus. What can ya do? Have you ever seen somebody eat with mostly the front teeth? The boy has all his teeth including molars, and still mainly eats using his front teeth.
I can't figure out how he does it. I tried once, and it just made a big mess!

Is this considered animal cruelty?? Don't call PETA on me please!
BTW: I am now addicted to this blogging stuff... All day whenever  I had a free minute I would be on my iPhone changing settings and thinking about what to write. You should have seen the state of the house when poor Alex got home. The stuff that man puts up with!

About that ice-cream....

At the end of the last post I meantiond Oreo ice-cream, my kids had other ideas...
I also had an epiphany. I have magic boobs. I never breastfed Luca, so I didn't know I had magical powers. While I was eating the aforementioned ice-cream Annasofia started crying. Alex went to calm her and by the time i was 4 spoonfulls in I heard Luca run to our room. Yet another attempt to sleep in our bed... At least he goes after what he truely wants! So I get him to bed and go check on Daddy and daughter. I laughed because she was wide awake and ready to play. After finishing my oreo goodness I went to relieve daddy of his duties and thought it's going to be a while before this fire cracker goes back to sleep! But I decided to offer some milk and realized that with one boob and ten minutes time I can put an infant to sleep just as good as any pharmacutical company can a cranky old man! Hoooray for magic boobies!
Now gooooooood night!

Here I am BLOG world! Love me if you dare!

So after much deliberating, and procrastination, I have decided to enter the blog world. I've been told with my candid comments and hilarious son it would make for a good read. We'll see about that!
Not to sure where to go, or what to write, so I will start with a little about my day. Probably customary to let your readers know about you and some background info, but I figure what's the point at this stage in the game, mostly it will just be friends and family reading! If anybody doesn't know me and wants to know more, just ask. I am not shy!
Ever wake up in the morning look at the clock and groan? 6AM? Yuck. Well i do that, but when I see the reason, or reasons, I am awake, it's hard to stay mad. This morning the littlest one was already in our kingsize with us, so i got an amazing smile and those cute little excited kicks she does when she is reallllly happy to see you.

Ok, ok so they aren't today's pics, but you get the idea!
~
So I'll be honest, i didn't jump up and immediately love the idea of getting up, but i did smile, and touch her cute cheeks! How could you not?! After about a half an hour of her doing her ninja chops and rolls all over the bed I realized, WAIT A MINUTE?! She is on her hands and knees? When the heck did she learn that? Good god they grow fast! i was very excited to see that. So we started the day.  As it turned out, it was loooong and hot. My poor little man Luca was bored, tried the outside thing, no go. He didn't want to, the little pool was too "pold"  (only kid i ever heard say that!) ~he can't say "k"~ -so in we went. We made the best of a sticky sweaty day. Bedtime however, sucked. Luca has taken to loving our bed. He is all done with his night time rituals, thanks daddy, I am trying to keep poor baby girl cool and get her to sleep without holding her (impossible i might add) Three times I catch him running to our room. The kid is a 35lb elephant! The first was adorable. Him and two of his three lamby's running like only 2 and a half year olds do. I couldn't help but laugh!

"But I looove this bed" he says... Who can blame him, it's that good, and HUGE! My guess is he gets his procrastination from me, after all the attempts at sneaking into our bed, a glass of water and a trip to the potty, he was finally in bed. Me however, not yet. It's past my bed time and i am writing this, and re-reading and changing and adding thinking. "I'm not cut out for this blog stuff..."
To be continued, I'm off to have me some Oreo Ice Cream...
